Basically what the title says. In this post, I’ll just run through the anime set for winter 2019 and write what I expect of them. Some I will have a lot to say about, and others, not so much. I’ll go in the opposite order of popularity on MAL to make it more interesting for people to actually stick through to the end. I tend to not always align with others opinions so it would be sad if you missed some of my interesting thoughts or something. I may skip some here, but I will still watch the first episode of every show.
Movies
Ashita Sekai ga Owaru Toshitemo
This kinda took me by surprise. I don’t really read synopsises, so I’ve got no idea what it’s about, however, the CG in the PV is basically the way I’ve been asking anime to do it for a while now. Basically, instead of limiting themselves to the restrictions of 2D, but instead confined to the restrictions of 3D. I may watch this when it comes out, as it seems interesting to me.
Made in Abyss Movies 1 and 2
I’m honestly looking forward to these. I rarely care about compilation movies, however, in this case, the anime was padding it out a bit at times whereas the manga was super quick. I wonder how it’ll be if it is allowed to cut some of the filler content. I am also hoping that they will add some scenes to the ending of the second movie because the poster is implying that they may finish the arc that was gonna happen straight after the anime ended. It’s a really short arc, so it’s not completely unlikely. It also has an insane fight so it would be awesome to see them adapt it with a movie budget (if they’ve got that).
Grisaia: Phantom Trigger The Animation
It’s been so long since I’ve seen Grisaia now, so I think I may rewatch the series first. I do remember that it had a few out of place panty shots though. I’m hoping that this movie won’t do that, as that was very typical of the ’00s, but is kinda dated now.
OVA
It’s My Life
I’ve seen the manga show up many times in my recommended feed, so I think I wanna give the upcoming OVA a try. While OVA’s used to be a sign of quality once, it’s not really so anymore, so I’m quite skeptical as to whether it’ll be good or not, but I’ll give it a shot.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime OVA
Well, I love the anime so I’ll obviously check out the OVA once it’s out
Eromanga-sensei OVA
This may come as a surprise to you, but I loved the anime. Huh? You’re saying that it’s not a surprise, well, okay. Anyways, I’m gonna watch this OVA, because the anime was awesome. Let’s hope for more indecent loli lewding!
Series
Rinshi!! Ekoda-chan
I have a feeling that this one is gonna be a show that will go under the radar for a while, but by the end be a show that a few people will find awesome. The director is listed as animation director for Mind Game and assistant animation director for Akira, so this could most certainly have some awesome and wacky visuals. I’m looking forward to seeing this as the yon-coma it’s based on is supposedly quite dark. Oh, and the artwork we’ve gotten so far looks cool.
Dimension High School
I’m no stranger to giving weird anime a try. This one looks like it may be somewhat similar to Himote House and gdMen in style, so, I’m definitely checking it out! Looks like it could be pretty funny. Hopefully, someone (prob. Crunchyroll) will pick up the license for it.
Circlet Princess
The character designs of this one don’t really appeal to me, and the PV gives me some PTSD to some of the older ecchi shows of the ’00s. I’m not sure what to think of this, but I have a feeling it’s not gonna be any of the interesting shows of the season. I’m guessing that I’m gonna drop this on the first episode
Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai
Contrary to what people may think of me, I don’t really think that 3DCGi means that a show is bad, I just hate the implementation most of the time. This is an anime that, based on the PV, may prove to be an exception to the rule. This one actually looks really good and I’m a little hyped for it. It also has the producers of Shirobako behind it and based on the first episode, I think that could be a seal of quality.
Endro~!
This show has some adorable character designs! I mean, the PV has very limited animation, however, if they pull it off well, I won’t mind. Actually, this type of show could benefit from it! I’m intrigued and will definitely watch an episode of it!
Girly Air Force
This show looks like it’s gonna be atrocious, however, it has a girl in a summer dress, so I’ll be willing to look past some of it. Give me girls in summer dresses, please!
Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita!
A Doga Kobo show with adorable little girls? «Sukkoi kawaii!» as the mature girl said in the PV. I need this, and I need it now! When Doga Kobo is at it’s best, they make some amazing anime and based on the PV, this looks like one of them! This fall, it was UzaMaid, now it’ll be Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita!
Ueno-san wa Bukiyou
This show looks like it’ll take on the same style as Nichijou, and I loved that show, so I’ll definitely give this a shot! Over the top comedy and a simplistic style. Yes, this looks cool.
Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka
This show looks like it’ll take on the same fate as Hanebado. A show with stunning animation, but shallow to the point where I’ll drop it within the first few episodes. Doesn’t help that it’s the same studio making it (which doesn’t necessarily mean a thing). I’m not saying that this show looks as gorgeous as Hanebado, but the PV shows animation with a high frame count, so it’s not like the comparison isn’t there. I also really don’t like the character designs
Revisions
I never thought I’d say this, but I’m hyped for a 3DCGi mecha show! Seriously, I used to always say «I don’t like mecha shows», however, in recent times, I’ve actually watched several mecha shows that I’ve liked, so I can’t really say that anymore. Nowadays I just don’t know. But this show looks awesome, and it seems to be able to make the 3DCGi work really well, based on the PV at least. Looking forward to watching this!
Domestic Girlfriend
I just gotta say, I’ve read the manga for a long time and I love this! It’s in the hands of the Gir(a)rlish Note director, so I’m really hopeful that this show can be amazing! Actually, based on the PV’s, I’m at the point where I believe I can be hyped without getting let down! This mature love story is fantastic, and I’m hoping that the adaptation can capture the same mature story that the manga served me!
Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen
I’m skeptical about this one. A-1 Pictures leaves a sour taste in my mouth, and I’m fearing that it’ll feel like another rushed product. Let’s hope I’m wrong because I think the manga was interesting if I remember correctly.
Boogiepop and Others (2019)
This one has a lot to live up to, so I’m gonna stay skeptical and say, it probably won’t. I haven’t seen the original yet though (yes, I know I should, because it’s just the type of anime I would love), but once I have, I will give this a watch. The PV looks really dope though, so I am kinda having high hopes for it anyway. I’m also surprised that Madhouse made a sequel for once!
Mysteria Friends
The costume design in this anime looks pretty nice. Seems like they thought about how clothes would actually have to be designed for monster girls to wear them! I’m interested in seeing more of it because the visuals of this one generally look pretty good!
The Promised Neverland
I’m not hyped, I’m not hyped, I’m not hyped, I’m not hyped. Maybe a little? Okay, I’m hyped. I can’t wait for this! I love the manga and am currently waiting for the last arc to end before I finish it! Seriously, please, CloverWorks, for the love of god, don’t screw this up! The manga is a masterpiece, and I love it, so please, don’t screw it up! If they screw it up, I’m gonna be sad. I also hope they completely adapt it, as the manga is set to end after this arc so it would be nice if they also completely adapted the manga by the end.
The Rising of the Shield Hero
Yeeeeah, this is probably gonna be trash. I usually don’t look forward to new isekai and instead let the minuscule amount of good ones surprise me. I’m just gonna say, I don’t think this one will be one of them.
Kakegurui××
I know a lot of people didn’t like the first season of this show, however, I just can’t agree on that. I found the first season pretty exhilarating and was looking forward to the second season after finishing it. I’m gonna have a fun time with the sequel, even if Kaiji does a lot of the same things, better.
And last but not least
Mob Psycho 100 II
Did anyone seriously think this one wouldn’t appear here? I mean, I have proclaimed myself as a sakuga otaku multiple times before (perhaps not on my blog), so this should come as no surprise. I’m looking forward to Yutapon cubes and the amazing sakuga scenes that the team of the first season will deliver with season 2! I’m also just looking forward to seeing where the story will keep going as well because I have yet to see more than one season of anything by ONE so far.
U forgot Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? movie. i think it cool animu

I didn’t include it because I dropped Sword Oratoria. It was kinda boring to get a full season recap . . .
